It was a very snowy winter. With storm upon storm beginning in December, as of January 27th we had 30 inches of snow officially on the ground. We are renaming our deck from "sun deck" to "snow deck".
Cross-Country Ski Day
On January 29th Scott, Phil, Jocelyn, Steve, Ruth and Lucas went to the Windblown Cross-Country Ski area in New Hampshire for a day in the great outdoors. The temperature in the upper 20s was ideal for skiing and not too cold for the little ones. We pulled the kids in sleds the whole time. They were fascinated by the new environment.

At the end of the day, after about 3 hours on the trail, Ruthie napped.
In the background, Steve is finishing up his day’s skiing, followed by Philip pulling Lucas in the purple sled.

Lucas did his share of napping, too. One of the delightful features of the skiing was that Lucas would sing while riding in the sled.

After Jocelyn and Steve headed home, Scott skied up the mountain again, where beauty was joined with solitude.
