OrienteeringOrienteering is a wonderful sport of skill and stamina. But covering the distance between control points quickly is only one part of the challenge. You also need to get there with a mind that's unlost. My own recent experience is just one testimonial to the fact that this is not simple. My children have participated in nationally sanctioned meets, and were ranked creditably for 1996. The IOF (International Orienteering Federation) page is a gateway to orienteering activities worldwide. A good starting point for learning about orienteering in the USA is “Follow the Signs”. If you're in the U.S., enjoy maps, and would like to run through the woods for 3 hours at a time, check out billygoat.org. HikesOn June 15, 1996 I hiked the Presidential Range in one day. I've hiked many of the trails of New Hampshire's White Mountains, and can recommend some super hikes. |
